DESCRIPTION:We are very excited to announce that we will be hosting a special screening of the documentary film Wilfred Buck in anticipation of his visit next week!\nJoin us in the hall on Monday\, February 23.\nWe will start the film at 7:30 pm.\n.\n\n\nAbout Wilfred Buck\, a film by Lisa Jackson:\nHe’s from the “fresh-out-of-the-bush\, partly civilized\, colonized\, displaced people\,” and he’s here to take us to the stars. Lisa Jackson’s portrait of Cree Elder Wilfred Buck moves between earth and sky\, past and present\, bringing to life ancient teachings of Indigenous astronomy and cosmology to tell a story that spans generations. Adapted from Buck’s rollicking memoir I Have Lived Four Lives\, the film weaves together stories from his life\, including his harrowing young years of displacement and addiction. Seamlessly fusing present-day scenes with cinematic re-enactments and archival footage\, this intimate yet expansive documentary takes us on an inspiring journey to the space beyond\, and to the spaces between us all.\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you there!

DESCRIPTION:A Moosehide Winter!\nNow that the weather is looking better\, we’ve rescheduled\, and our Moosehide Christmas event is now a Moosehide Winter event!\n\n\nThis idea came from our elders and their memories of gathering together\, dancing\, laughing\, sharing food\, and celebrating. We want to bring this memory back to life for us all to experience!\n\n\n Food:\nWe’ll be cooking up some traditional foods and bringing soups and stews to share. To make it extra special\, we’d love community involvement – please bring your favorite dish or treat for the potluck if you can!\n\n\n Activities:\nThere will be live music and dancing\, crafts and workshops for everyone to enjoy. We are hoping we’ll be able to set up a sliding hill for some outdoor fun! There will also be some games to join or watch and\, of course\, a big game of Denezhù Bingo!! So don’t forget to bring a wrapped gift to join in the fun!\n\n\n Getting There:\nThe main way to travel will be by skidoo\, but for those who want to go by foot\, we’ll have skis and snowshoes available. We will post a ride schedule closer to the date.\n\n\n Safety:\nThis event is weather dependent. We will work closely with the Rangers to monitor conditions and create a safe trail into Moosehide. DESCRIPTION:The Community Safety Planning Initiative will host meetings on Wednesday\, January 28\, and Thursday\, January 29\, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the TH Hall. Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Citizens\, along with internal and external partners\, are invited to attend and participate. These sessions will serve as the third and final community engagement meetings\, focused on developing a comprehensive workplan to proactively implement community safety measures. \nDiscussions will centre on key priority areas\, including substance misuse and mental health\, housing\, community supports and traditional values\, and food security. The workplan will aim to support safety and wellbeing by keeping TH Citizens within their traditional territory\, expanding diversion opportunities\, and strengthening proactive\, community and family-based programming. \nParticipants will also receive updates on the positive impacts of the new outreach program. A virtual meeting may be held prior to the final session to review outcomes from the first two engagement sessions.
