Participate in Ni’ehłyat Nidähjì’ Practice Framework

Drin hǫzǫ (Good Day) Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in families,

As we continue to finalize the Ni’ehłyat Nidähjì’ Framework—which is intended for families residing on Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Traditional Territory—we want to ensure that the invaluable insights of all TH Citizens regarding children, youth, and family programming and services are heard. We look forward to continuing to receive feedback and wisdom from TH families, no matter where they live.

Ni’ehłyat Nidähjì’ (Our Families, Our Future is a new department within Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, established in 2023. It is dedicated to supporting families, youth, and children through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and holistic family-centered care and practices. We are structured to ensure that programs and supports are developed and implemented for the benefit of TH families. These supports include assistance with family planning, parenting, and services for children and youth aged 0–30. The department oversees prevention- and preservation-focused family supports, including cultural programs, pre- and post-natal care, Jordan’s Principle support, the Family Wellness Program, nutrition initiatives, and ceremonial practices. Additionally, Ni’ehłyat Nidähjì’ oversees family supports and services delivered under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with the Yukon Government.

K’äjìt-in Zho (Youth House) offers programs and services that create a safe, fun, and supportive environment for youth, including on-the-land healing and activities for those aged 30 and under. We are also actively engaged in governance through the Youth Council, which meets monthly at K’äjìt-in Zho. This council provides a valuable opportunity for youth aged 16–30 to speak about issues that matter to them and to learn about self-governance. A Zoom option is available for those unable to attend in person.

As our department continues to grow and evolve, we are committed to ensuring that Citizen voices remain central to our programs and services. You can stay connected with us by following our Facebook page.  Access our feedback form below and we kindly ask that you submit your feedback by September 22, 2025, either by email or by mail.
