‼Water Main UPDATE ‼
12:00 pm
Monday, January 12, 2026
Please read fully for the most up to date information on what is happening.
We want to ensure all of our affected community members that crews are working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue.
Mähsi to everyone for their patience at this time.
Going forward there will be an update daily at noon until the situation resolves.
Current situation
• The water and wastewater plants and systems are stable. The break on 4th Avenue has been repaired. The break on 3rd Avenue is being addressed.
• 13 city blocks in the affected area have units with frozen water lines and/or sewer lines. At this time, we anticipate that all lines should be thawed by the end of the week, however this may change.
• A boil water advisory is still in effect for the City of Dawson public drinking water system.
• A boil water order is in place for restaurants, daycares, community centres, hospital, and schools.
• Robert Service School is closed until further notice due to a frozen sewer line.
If you need help
⚠️If everything is working well, it is crucial to keep your bleeder on, or leave a tap running with hot water to avoid re-freezing.
• Monitor your water closely.
• Keep an eye out for sewer backup, if you see any issue call (867)993-3880 immediately. If this happens in the middle of the night, stop putting anything down your drains, and turn off your bleeder.
