Notice of Temporary Closure at the Chief John Jonas Centre

Please see the following update regarding Wellness services:
.
Drin hǫzǫ Citizens and community members,
As you may have noticed, the Wellness branch of our K’änächa Department has for some time been operating without a full complement of jëje-in, with many key support positions unfilled for months on end. Despite the dedication and efforts of our Wellness team, these circumstances have increasingly affected our ability to provide services in a way that meets the needs of our Citizens and aligns with the standard of care we strive to uphold.
.
After careful consideration, and with the full support of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Council, the decision has been made to temporarily suspend all non-essential Wellness programs and services until Monday, August 24, 2026.
.
This pause is not a decision that was made lightly. It reflects our responsibility to ensure that services are delivered safely, sustainably, and in a manner that supports both the wellbeing of our community and the wellbeing of those providing that support. Our goal is to return with a stronger foundation that enables us to continue supporting the wellness of our Citizens with care, consistency, and respect.
While non-essential programs and services will be paused, essential Wellness services will remain available during this period.
.
The following services will continue to operate:

.
We recognize that this temporary service interruption may create challenges for Citizens, families, and our partners. We sincerely apologize for the disruption and appreciate your patience and understanding as we take the necessary steps to strengthen our ability to serve the community over the long term.
.
Mähsį’ cho for your understanding, patience, and continued support.
