Important Notice for Citizens regarding Jordan’s Principle Funding

****Citizens, please see below for an important notice regarding the changes to Jordan’s Principle Funding.
.
📦As you may already be aware, recent changes to the way the Government of Canada operates and responds to Jordan’s Principle funding applications have meant significant changes to how First Nations are able to support the nutritional needs of citizens and their families. Regrettably, Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in has been impacted by these changes.
.
📦As such, we regret to advise you that our fall, winter, and spring food hamper programs (Nän käk Nishi’chin / Our Food From the Land Box, Drin zhìt shò ä̀hłąy chin / Merry Christmas Bin
and Sränä̀ Hǫ̀ląy Chin / It is Springtime Box), which have traditionally been provided to Indigenous families with Indigenous children 0-18 years living on Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Traditional Territory, will not be available in the forthcoming year.
.
💝We appreciate this announcement will affect all our families living on traditional territory, and we are working hard to find sustainable long-term solutions to this critical gap in community support.
.
💝In the interim, families experiencing food insecurity can contact our Ni’ehłyat Nidähjì’ Administrator at (867) 993-7100 ext. 115 and we will work with you to ensure you and your family’s need are met. Mähsį’ cho for your understanding and patience as we work to resolve this issue in a good way. K’änächa.
