Please read fully for the most up to date information on what is happening.
We understand that many community members are waiting for assistance and we would like to assure those waiting that crews are working as quickly as possible to restore water to all units.
Mähsi to everyone for their patience at this time.
Current situation
• The water plant and wastewater plant are both stable. Water and wastewater systems have been stabilized. The break on 4th Avenue has been repaired.
• Crews are currently working to thaw water and sewage lines in people’s homes. There are a substantial number of units with frozen lines, and each home is unique in its issues. To thaw all the affected homes will take several days.
• A crew is working to repair the break on 3rd Avenue.
• The boil water advisory is still active for the City of Dawson Public drinking water system. We recommend following public health guidelines on this matter to ensure safe water consumption and sanitation.
• The boil water order is in place for restaurants, daycares, community centres, hospitals and schools.
• Robert Service School is closed until further notice due to a frozen sewer line.
If your household has frozen pipes:
-Do not turn off your bleeder,
-Turn off water and power to your hot water tank
-All affected community members can call the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in emergency number (867) 993-3880 with your address.
-If you notice anything unusual happening, please call the TH Emergency Number.
